How do I set up my LG air conditioner to become a heater?
I’m freezing! I have an air conditioner mounted on the wall, but I’m confused with all the controlls! I live in Australia…
Because of your description I suspect you have what is known as a ductless split air conditioner system. Other types would be a central system that have ducts going from the evaporator to various rooms or through the wall, ceiling or window package units (condenser and evaporator in one unit.)
For an air conditioner to be able to switch from cooling to heating it has to have “heat pump” capacities. This essentially switches the evaporator and the condenser so that where formerly the evaporator was cooling the air the same unit now heats the air. The condenser is located outside and there is piping between the two.
Most modern air conditioners/heat pumps have few controls on the unit. Most of the controls are on the remote. There are several basic functions for units of all brands. One is to control temperature. Another is to control the function of the fan and the last is the one you want to control the function of the unit. It will be saying “cool” now and you want to change it to either “heat” or “auto” and then reset the temperature.
You could simply reset the temperature to also turn the cooling function off.
When asking a specific question about an appliance it is best to give the model number.
